"We have a saying-- 'No one can do that job better than you
can.' And when you're not here, that puts your company in a
position, and your fellow workers in a position, where you have
to scramble to get a certain job done. And when you do
that, you put someone in that slot that may not be as skilled as
you are. And that's when you have troubles--you have troubles in
quality control, you have troubles in efficiency, and in the
orderly process of going down the manufacturing line. It
is critical that folks be on the job everyday and play
their part, so the entire plant, as well as the company, can
benefit." |

"We have calls constantly from students who have graduated and
businesses who employ our students, thanking us for taking the
time to teach-- and in some cases reinforce-- work ethics.
Work Ethics has proven to be successful at East Central Tech and
has the potential for doing the same for you." |

"About two years ago, a former student of East Central Technical
College told me about the environment. I battled a lot of
fear and trepidation about going to school after the failure
that I had experienced. She pushed me and I went on and
enrolled in the technical college. My trauma caused me to
not want to speak, but because of the work ethics that was
taught, the communication skills, I began to slowly learn how to
communicate.
The biggest thing that I learned there was how to relate to
people. I began talking... something that I had not done
in years was smile. I learned how to laugh, and I became
confident in who I was and what I could do. I want to be
an educator. I want to be able to help those who have the
ability to achieve, but for some reason they are locked up
within themselves. I want to be able to touch lives, like
East Central Tech touched mine." |

"I feel that the Work Ethics Program at STC is very good.
I learned about what employers are looking for in hiring
employees. We took time out every week to discuss the
qualities that employers expect when hiring--being dependable,
being on time, being trustworthy, being a good listener."
